Quality key to Send a Card’s success
A new product from New Zealand Post that combines the convenience of technology with the trusted medium of print is proving to be a hit with customers.
Send a Card is an online service where you can create high-quality, personalised greeting cards and postcards and send them anywhere in the world, all through the Internet.
The system was launched in November 2009 and offers small businesses an easy and engaging way to communicate with customers while giving consumers a personal way to connect with loved ones.
Technological advances in printing processes mean that Send a Card can be digitally printed on demand. The high-quality stock used is produced from locally sourced materials from sustainably managed forests.
Rory Watt, Growth and Innovation Manager for Targeted Communications at New Zealand Post says "The cards are extremely high quality and are right on par with those you'd buy in a shop - and you get to personalise them."
Rory says the cards' premium print finish has helped to promote Send a Card. "Customers are very impressed with the system and it has really sparked people's interest and imaginations," he says.
New Zealand Post showcased the system with a PR campaign, sending personalised cards to key media personalities for Christmas and Valentine's Day.
They have employed a variety of channels to promote the product including featuring Send a Card in lifestyle magazines, an ideal way to reach their target audience.
"Print has its place in an integrated media mix. Our key target market tends to be high magazine users and responsive to direct mail, so print is an important medium to reach them," Rory explains.
Rory says feedback from customers has been extremely positive. "They love the convenience Send a Card allows them while being able to send a distinctive personal card which someone will enjoy receiving in the mail".
